Importance of Media in Democracy

Democracy means a system of government in which all the people of the country can vote and elect their representatives. Media was introduced in the 1970s. Media was used in shaping human minds. Media plays a very crucial role in shaping a healthy democracy. Media keeps us updated on various social, political, and economical activities happening around the world. It is like a mirror, which shows us or strives to show us the bare truth and harsh realities of life. in other words, we can say it is the backbone of democracy. The media also exposes loopholes in the democratic system, which ultimately helps the government fill the vacuums of loopholes and make a system more accountable, responsive, and citizen-friendly.
Media has evolved rapidly and became more active over the years. It is the media that uncovers the truth of different stories which are currently taking place around the globe. The media is the only one who reminds the politicians about their unfulfilled promises at the time of elections. Media helps the illiterates in electing the right person to the power. Due to this people are provided with a lot of information that they can use to raise their voice against injustice and political leaders who haven’t fulfilled their promises. Media can play both negative and positive roles in the community.
